In today's digital world, it's rare to make a connection with another person outside of your phone. Justin and Michelle, however, were actually brought together by a (pushy, loud, 5'1") mutual friend who knew Michelle from Florida and Justin from Montana. She brought two foreign worlds together for the best possible combination. Michelle went to Montana after graduating from Florida State University before starting her internship in NYC in 2014. A few months prior to Michelle taking her sabbatical, Nikki introduced Michelle and Justin over the phone on St.Patricks Day. Neither of them can quite remember what was discussed, but it was enough to encourage daily conversation until Michelle made her way to Big Sky Country for a visit. When Michelle got to Montana, she was met with flowers and homemade breakfast by the man on the other side of the phone. Days turned into a week, which quickly turned into a month, Michelle and Justin were inseparable. At the end of the month, their future was uncertain but there was one thing they agreed on - they didn't want this to be the end. They heard a lot of, 'I TOLD YOU YOU'D FALL IN LOVE." from a certain loud, 5'1", pushy friend. Two months into long-distance, Justin quit his job at the Ranch Club after seven years, packed a duffle bag, and booked a one-way ticket to Manhattan. Over the past four years, they have overcome obstacles together, experienced highest highs, and leaned on one another through lowest lows. Throughout everything, they never wavered from their commitment to one another.
On the first nice NYC day in the spring of 2018, Michelle desperately wanted to host a BBQ on their rooftop. Justin oddly was not as optimistic about this plan, but Michelle tried anyway to no avail. Everyone was either visiting friends in Jersey, doing their own wedding planning or just ghosted them. So Justin, Michelle and their roommate (or otherwise referred to as their child), Megs, headed up to the roof. Justin announced he really wanted sushi and he and Michelle should go to Nobu downtown. Once at Nobu, Justin didn't drink (which was Michelle's first clue that something was up) and then did not touch his favorite shrimp tempura roll. Then, the usual 1.5 hour dinner lasted about 30 mins and they were on their way back to the apartment. Unfortunately, Justin's abrupt dinner termination did not help Megs, who was setting everything up back at home. So Justin had to stall and naturally, they went shopping for tea. Finally, they got home and Michelle smelled candles burning, to which she thought, "Oh shit, I left a candle burning he's gonna be mad.." She opened the door to rose petals and something like 20 tea candles leading to a bottle of Dom. Justin got on one knee and the rest is history.
