Our Story

We Go Way Back

Our story starts all the way back in 2006 when we were sophomores at Travis High School. We sat next to each other in pre-calculus class and were always paired together for group projects. We quickly realized that we had several mutual friends and started spending more time together. By the end of high school, we had become best friends. We both decided to attend The University of Texas at Austin, and our friendship quickly evolved into something more. We spent the majority of our college years together attending football games, attempting to study together, and eating all the delicious food Austin had to offer. After college, we ended up going our separate ways for about six years. Parth attended dental school in Houston and successfully became Dr. Parth Patel, DDS. I stayed back in Austin to complete my Masters Program in Accounting and eventually found my way back to Houston to start my career. Part two of our love story started when we reconnected at our mutual friends' wedding a few years ago. After we caught up at the wedding, we continued to stay in touch and our friendship seemed to bounce back to where it had been. I eventually needed a new dentist and decided to visit Parth for a check-up. My excellent dental hygiene must have caught his attention because he asked me out on a date a few weeks later. We haven't looked back since!

The Proposal

Let's Get Maui'ed

In late 2020, Parth convinced me that we needed to use our Southwest Companion Pass before it expired. He insisted on planning the trip, and I was in shock when he told me we were heading to Hawaii in January. During our first full day in Maui, we went whale watching, ate a delicious lunch, and got ready to go to a "formal luau" (which Parth had convinced me was actually a thing). Parth mentioned that the luau was near a beautiful beach that had great views and sea turtles. We decided to stop by on our way to the so-called “luau”. When we got to the beach, Parth walked me down a boardwalk to a cliff with breathtaking views. As we approached the cliff, I noticed that there was a message in a glass bottle on the ground. I wasn't quite sure what was going on until Parth reached down to grab the bottle and pulled out the message for me to read. While I wiped tears away and read the message that Parth had written, Parth got down on one knee and proposed. It was beautiful and absolutely perfect.
