The first date began at steps of the historical Bar 1903. The holiday season in full swing, there was no table available. Thus, the two took their first steps together at the local park. The park was illuminated by Christmas lights, like a Hallmark romance movie pushing these two big city lawyers into each other's arms. Eventually, space opened at the bar, and after drinks (and complimentary cookies) the two found themselves talking until the bar closed. What were the topics of this romantic date? Well, Parker is very proud of his envelope budget system, and had finally found someone who shared in his appreciation for organization. Both graduates of Florida State University College of Law, the couple were ever practical and proceeded to discuss additional topics not typical for a first date; however, we are told there were also conversations about the traditional who you are, where do you come from, how many siblings do you have, etc. At last, having found the elusive reasonable person,* the two would proceed to go on many more dates, and grow their connection. These two also appreciate the outdoors. After hiking one afternoon, Michelle’s wit and humor resonated with Parker so much that he found himself abruptly expressing his love for them after Michelle told a joke. This author does not know what the joke was, but the importance in this story is the love. Four months into the relationship, Michelle proposed (unofficially) by giving Parker a piece of antique furniture for his office because they wanted to “keep it in the fam.” The official proposal occurred on a subsequent holiday date to the park, where the trees were illuminated in the magic of Christmas lights and love. * legal joke
