Kalie and Parker unknowingly met for the first time when she was visiting one of her best friend's at the future college she would be attending, St. Ambrose University. Kalie was out with her friends when Parker photobombed a picture they were taking. Kalie thought nothing of it other than a stranger messed up a photo op! They still have that photo to this day, and love looking back on it. But that was just the beginning! Once Kalie officially transferred to St. Ambrose University, the two became distantly reacquainted through the same group of friends and would cross path's here and there. That's when one weekend Parker saw Kalie at the bar and told her bestfriend that "he was going to marry that girl". He asked her on a date that same week- though it took him a few attempts to get the confidence to finally do it! At the time, Kalie had no intention of getting into a relationship but with some convincing from her friend paired with Parker's sweet attitude and charm, she couldn't say no. After that first date, Kalie knew something was different and special with Parker, and whether she liked it or not, she was all in!
The week of Christmas of 2021, both Parker and Kalie had their family's out to Arizona for a holiday visit. Parker had previously bought a ring back in Iowa from the same jeweler his dad used for his mom's engagement ring. So that meant that his parents were in charge of traveling with the ring so that Parker would be able to propose this week (no pressure). In a turn of events, the Arizona desert decided to rain almost the ENTIRE week during this trip, and this led to Parker having to change his proposal plan about 3 times, until he finally made it happen. At the end of the trip, both families went to hike up "The Hole in The Rock" in Tempe, AZ where Kalie and Parker lived at the time. During this anxious walk up for Parker, Kalie asked Parker to hold her phone and actually reached into the bag that Parker was holding with the ring box inside and somehow missed it! As their families (and about 200 other people) were at the top of the hike taking in the views, Parker got on one knee and popped the question.
