Frequently Asked Questions
Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Formal/Black Tie Optional Attire: Please use this opportunity to dress your best! Men in dark suits and tuxes. Ladies in fancy dresses or gowns. However, high heels are not recommended due to the historic & outdoor nature of our venue. Not sure what color to wear? Think black or neutrals, but please no white.

Question

PSA for the ladies:

Answer

Though we are hosting a formal event, we suggest wearing flat shoes or a low block heel. Historic Savannah & high heels don't mix! The reception will take place in the blacksmith shop with cobblestone & brick floors, so kicking off your heels to dance is not advised.

Question

Can I bring my children?

Answer

Our events will be adults-only. Although we love your little ones, we regretfully cannot accommodate anyone under 21 at the venue. We hope you'll take this opportunity to celebrate with us in style!

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

In order to keep our guest list on track we are only able to accommodate those guests formally invited on your wedding invitation.

Question

Do you have a hotel room block?

Answer

Yes! We have a room block at the Residence Inn by Marriott Savannah Downtown/Historic District. Please use the link on our Travel section to make your reservation. If it's showing "no rooms available" please reach out to us so we can add more!

Question

Can I explore around the venue?

Answer

Yes, please explore but be sure not to miss the evening’s events! Due to the historical nature of the site, please be aware of ongoing preservation and exercise caution when moving throughout the event venue. Please do not climb on top of any railroad equipment. The Railroad Museum is not liable in the event of any injury or damage of personal property.

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Yes! The venue has a large gravel parking lot where you may leave your car. The lot will be locked after 11:00 PM and reopened the next morning at 9:00 AM for car retrieval. Savannah is pedestrian-friendly, so we don’t recommend driving after the reception!

Question

Can I bring my own alcohol to the venue?

Answer

No. A full open bar will be provided! In accordance with State & Local law, the Railroad Museum must handle all alcohol consumed during our event. Thank you for understanding!
