A trailhead close to Golden. While it does a bit crowded with hikers and mountain bikers, it offers some well maintained trails near-by with views of the iconic Red Rocks. (one hike from there: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/colorado/village-walk-red-rocks-and-morrison-slide-trail)
A moderate trail just outside of Golden that is one of our favorites. The first bit is a steady incline until the top where there is a flatter loop with great views of Denver as well as the front range. You can also drive up to the trailhead and hike around the top to the west trailhead. An open space near Golden with miles and miles of trails for hiking! Personally, we have only explored from the West parking lot, but there many, many good reviews for all the trails in this park. From the West side, there are great views without too much elevation change and a couple of nice loops to avoid an out and back. (example hikes: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/colorado/rawhide-trail--2 , https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/colorado/rawhide-to-belcher-to-mustang-to-sawmill). Coming from the East lot and heading west, there is a bit more elevation change White Ranch East Trailhead 21827 West 56th Avenue Golden CO, 80403 White Ranch West Trailhead 25373 Belcher Hill Road Golden CO, 80403
A hike for the little more adventurous. Further into the mountains and more of a drive, it reaches above 12,000 ft, you can feel the lack of oxygen but the views up and the alpine lake at the top are superb. (https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/colorado/herman-gulch-trail)
Paige's neck of the woods! Any trail you pick here is a good choice and there are about 100 different options. It does get quite busy in the summer near the trailhead, but it calms down as you pick a trail and start exploring. While a bit of a drive, Mt. Evans scenic byway allows the adventurous to get to the top of a 14er via the highest paved road in North America. There are also some great hikes in the Mt. Evans wilderness area not at the peak. A permit is required beforehand which can be got at the website: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/arp/recreation/recarea/?recid=28452&actid=50
