How We Met

In the vibrant city of Houston, Paige had recently moved and was eager to make new friends. She had always been fond of playing Ultimate Frisbee and decided to join a local team called the Mud Turtles. However, her timing was a bit off as she joined towards the end of the season, leaving her with just one practice to get acquainted with her new teammates. Despite the limited time, her teammates were welcoming, and she was quickly added to all their group texts. As the end of the season approached, the frisbee community were getting excited about the upcoming fall league event. However, there was a twist - the field for the league was dominated by male players, and after a certain point, a male player needed a female teammate to sign up with. Seeing this as a perfect opportunity to meet more people and integrate into the community, Paige decided to reach out to the Mud Turtle group and asked if any boys needed a female partner to sign up with. Marco, a friendly guy who Paige had met from the team and who also happened to be Ricky's friend from college, was the first to respond. He suggested his friend Ricky as a potential teammate for Paige. Paige said that he was the first to respond and agreed, "Okay, cool! He can be my baggage!" In the Ultimate Frisbee community, the term "baggage" referred to two players signing up together, ensuring they were assigned to the same team. The league games took place every Thursday, and Paige looked forward to those evenings the most. Not only did she get to play the game she loved, but she also got to see a cute and charming boy named Ricky, who always managed to make her laugh. Unbeknownst to Paige, Ricky also enjoyed Thursday nights immensely. He loved the fast-paced nature of the game, the opportunity to catch up with his friends, and secretly, he was on the lookout for someone special. Curiosity got the better of Paige, and she decided to find Ricky on Facebook. She wanted to know more about him, but she had to be discreet in her investigations. As they got talking, Ricky mentioned that he was going to a wedding, which led to a conversation about relationships and being single. Taking a playful approach, Paige slyly brought up the topic of being single as well, stating that she was "#singforlyfe." She cleverly inquired about Ricky's relationship status, and he candidly replied, "utterly single.” Paige's heart skipped a beat as she read those words, and with newfound confidence, she continued the conversation with Ricky. They found themselves chatting for hours, discovering common interests, sharing jokes, and slowly building a strong connection. As the fall league progressed, Paige and Ricky's bond deepened both on and off the field. They became inseparable teammates during games, supporting and complementing each other's playing styles. Off the field, their friendship blossomed into something more profound, as they started spending more time together outside of Frisbee events. Their love for the sport that brought them together soon turned into something even more beautiful – a love for each other. Paige and Ricky's meeting through the Houston Frisbee was like fate’s hand pushing them towards each other, and as they continued to share their lives, they knew that they had found something truly special in each other's company. And so, the story of Paige and Ricky's beautiful connection began on the Frisbee field and grew into an extraordinary love that would last a lifetime.
