It all started at a brunch in NYC that our friends put together to connect UD Grads who recently moved to the city. I showed up late after a sweaty workout class in a baggy sweatshirt and messy bun, assured that my appearance and late arrival didn't matter because these guys were "not my type." After taking the only seat open at the table, I found myself next to a boy named, Alex. After hours of talking, several mimosas, and a few croque monsieurs later [Alex ordered it because I did :)] - I quickly realized this sweet boy Alex was indeed "my type." Alex invited me to join them out, so I went home got my self presentable, called my mom to let her know I “met a really cute boy", and met him out at Sweet & Vicious (IYKYK). And the rest is history from there - we have been together ever since that day!
A day we will certainly not forget! Early on Sunday morning Alex woke up and told me we should take Blu to the Great Dane meet up at Central Park. After a few moans and groans about getting up early, I finally got out of bed and got ready to leave. It was a perfect sunny Sunday morning, not too cold or too hot. We got to the park, found the other Great Danes and within 1 minute of being with the group, Blu got bit on the ear. There was blood all over both Alex and I and we knew we had to leave and go to the emergency vet. What I didn't know was that Alex was planning to propose that morning in the park - the meet up was just his way of getting me there. He had a photographer hiding in the park waiting to capture the moment and a full day of surprises after. But, Blu had other plans for the day. After 7+ hours at the emergency vet, surgery, stitches, and many sad tears later, we were finally headed home. Like Alex always does, he turned the day around in the best way possible. Before we got into our apartment, he turned to give me a hug and told me he's sorry the day had turned out the way it did, that he loved me, and thought he had something to make the day better. I immediately thought, "Oh yes, ice cream or a good dinner!" Well I was wrong...he had something better. He pulled out a ring box, got down on one knee and asked me to be with him for the rest of our lives. To my complete utter surprise, I burst out into (happy) tears this time, put all the pieces together and realized he was planning to do this earlier in the day, and that I was going to be in a baggy wrinkled t-shirt, with a messy bun (funny how life comes full circle) if it did happen with his original plan. We ended the night at our favorite restaurant and loving on our boy. A perfect day, just the Alex and Paige way - with Blu stealing the show! We can't wait to celebrate with you all so soon. See you in Cleveland!
