Will came to Asbury Park to see his roommate perform in “Ragtime,” and he met Matt at a cast party in the Asbury Hotel, where we intend to say our vows. As much as Matt doesn’t want to admit it, it was love at first sight, but alas timing doesn’t always work out. But a few months later, Matthew went to Will’s apartment for a viewing of Jesus Christ Superstar: Live. Matthew made it through 30 minutes and then fell asleep on Will’s shoulder. (Nothing has changed.) Now, seven years later, Will’s shoulder is the only shoulder Matthew wants to sleep on.
Against Matthew’s request to wait until after law school, Will surprised him by proposing on a rooftop in Manhattan two days before his last exam. Will had invited both of their families and best friends from around the country to share in the moment. However, little did Will know Matthew was waiting with a ring of his own. A double proposal on a rooftop in a storm. Pretty “Notebook” if you ask us. Matthew jokingly swore that if he failed the exam because of the full weekend of activities, Will would never hear the end of it. Ironically, that final turned out to be Matthew’s highest grade in law school.
