The New Israeli Shekel! (aka the Shekel aka NIS)
Appropriate tip amount at a restaurant is 12-15%. It is not customary to tip your taxi driver (really, don't do it).
220W. Yes, you will need a converter for US plugs. This is the same plug that is used in Europe.
Shabbat is "The Lord's Day" for the Jews, also known as Saturday. This begins from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. Stores will be closed during this time, but most restaurants will be open (especially in Tel Aviv and Jaffa). Many tourist sites around the country will also operate as normal. Best to check online before planning. Note: generally there is no public transportation on Shabbat, see next question for more information.
Yes! Israel has decent public transportation (buses and trains) - but it all shuts down on Shabbat (Friday sundown to Saturday sundown). Plan travel accordingly. We recommend using Google Maps, or downloading the "Moovit" app - there you can find real-time information on buses, and also pay for the bus through the app! (Here you will scan the QR code on the bus in the Moovit app and pay via Credit Card).
No - but we do have a taxi app! It's called GETT Taxi.
Taxis or Scooters - Lime, Bird, Wind - you name it, we've got it! Please only ride on bike lanes to be safe! There are also a few bus lines that do in fact run on Friday nights and Saturdays - you can find them on Google Maps or in the Moovit app.
Remember this is a daytime wedding! The ceremony will be outdoors on the patio (not grass so no worries ladies), and the dancing will be indoors - so think somewhere in between Garden Attire and Cocktail Attire :) But most importantly remember to be yourself and have fun!
