Answer

Ireland, in general, is rainy. Definitely pack for rain. It is usually a high of 60 degrees and a low of 48 degrees in May. BUT May is one of Ireland's sunniest months!

Question

Transportation, Taxis, Ubers

Answer

Taxis are readily available in Galway and the hotels will be able to help you call taxis and can give you the cab service phone number. **Highly Recommended: Download the "FreeNow" app. It is essentially the Uber of Ireland. This is borderline a must! There is also a bus that goes around Galway if you prefer. Bus schedules are regular from Dublin/Shannon airports to downtown Galway (~1hr between each pickups) You can get a bus upon arrival at airports, but scheduling your bus ahead of time is recommended. We have taken both Air Coach and City Link and both were good.

Question

Driving in Ireland

Answer

Yes, you do in fact drive on the opposite side of the road and the opposite side of the car. Keep that in mind if deciding to rent. The most confusing part about getting from the Shannon Airport to Galway is that there are quite a bit of roundabouts. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it! *If you plan to rent a car, be sure to check carefully on what you rent as majority of car rentals an manual. We got an automatic when we went the first time but be sure to double check.

Answer

Tipping is not mandatory in all circumstances. A good rule of thumb is to tip between 10% in Ireland at restaurants. Maybe 15% at nicer restaurants. Tipping transportation is not common, but appreciated.

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

Given the destination, we are keeping numbers as small as possible. With that said, unfortunately, we are not having children at the wedding.

Question

Golf at the Hotel? Rental clubs?

Answer

Yes! There is a beautiful 9 hole course behind Glenlo Abbey. Clubs: It is recommended to bring your own clubs as Glenlo has a limited amount of rentals. We are in the process of working with the hotel to see if they can bring in an appropriate amount of clubs from Thurs-Sun, but this is not guaranteed.
