Will had moved to Boston MA to study at Gordon Conwell seminary, Olivia to be closer to her sister, Amelia. Their paths crossed many times, but finally converged at a small group Bible study at the home of some friends from their church. In this weekly rhythm their friendship grew as they realised they shared a common thread under all their interests and convictions. Then in the summer of 2020 Olivia extended an invitation: the chance to visit her home state, Montana. Never one to pass on a golden opportunity, Will arranged to fly out to visit friends in Washington State before hitching a ride with Olivia to her hometown. The mountains work a magic all their own. After two weeks of hiking, swimming in glacial lakes, and sitting round many evening campfires (and a short, 2000 mile road trip back to Boston), Will finally found the courage to ask Olivia out on a date. Thankfully she agreed, and almost a year to the day since he asked her out, Will flew out again to Montana and proposed in a small alpine meadow called Goat Flats (she said yes). Montana has seen many milestones in Will and Olivia’s relationship, and it seems fitting that the “Last Best Place” should witness their first steps into marriage.
