It was October 2018. I (Olivia) was living in Bangkok, Thailand finishing my Bachelor's Degree at Bangkok University. Sam's sister Johanna was also living in Thailand at the time, teaching English in Nakhon Si Thammarat. Sam came to Thailand to visit Johanna. Before he left, Sam and I hung out in Bangkok and really hit it off. We did long distance for five months and made things official when he came back to Thailand in March 2019.

We took a trip to the US Virgin Islands to visit a friend living there who happens to be an amazing photographer. Sam recommended getting dinner with our friends that night but wanted to stop at Trunk Bay Beach to watch the sunset. I was not suspecting anything at all. He gave me a hug and I could feel his heart racing. I said, "why is your heart racing? We didn't just walk up a big hill.." Next thing I know, he is on one knee. I said yes and our friend caught everything on camera. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Boulder!
