Portland, Maine, 2015 Chris and Olivia met at a house party in Portland. They exchanged a few words throughout the night, but didn’t truly meet until the party was over. Chris offered to walk Olivia home, and off they went through the clear October night. A few days later, on their first date, Olivia met Jolene (Jo), Chris’s dog, and they walked down to the local dog park. From that day on, they spent nearly all of their time together. Portland was a charming city in which to fall in love. They enjoyed walking in to town for dinner, seeing concerts, and trying many different varieties of hoppy craft beer. That summer, Olivia brought Chris up to her family’s house in Freeport, Maine, where Chris was subjected to a typical Avidan jam-packed summer weekend and even enjoyed it! He definitely won over the Avidan parents with his talent for oyster shucking. New Orleans, Louisiana, 2017 A few years later, they made the big move to New Orleans where Olivia was starting medical school. They found an apartment right on Magazine Street, where they loved hosting friends, from dinner parties to impromptu jam sessions. Both avid dog lovers, they started fostering dogs from a local shelter, until an overcrowded shelter situation led them to adopt their latest foster, Goose, though Olivia needed little convincing. Providence, Rhode Island, 2021 After four years, the family of 4 (two humans, two dogs) moved to Providence. Now close to Chris’s family, they get to spend a lot more time with them in Walpole, MA! Living back up North also allowed them to finally get back to skiing, one of their favorite activities. Joshua Tree, California, 2022 On a trip to Joshua Tree, Chris proposed at sunset overlooking a beautiful desert valley. They spent the next few days hiking and relaxing in an incredibly peaceful desert cabin.
