Skylar and Olivia met in Colorado, where they rode together in a drill team organization called Westernaires. They first became friends when Olivia had moved up to the Varsity Big Red Team, during Skylar's senior year. During July of 2020 they traveled to Granby, CO with the team for the Granby Flying Heels Rodeo. There, they bonded with each other and their other teammates playing volleyball in the gymnasium, and spending long hours with the horses in the summer heat. After that, their friendship became closer, and although Olivia would have denied it at the time, she had found herself falling for Skylar. In April of 2022, Olivia invited Skylar to help at a young girl's horse themed birthday party, after spending lots of time with little kids and horses, (two of Olivia's favorite things), they headed back to her house for family dinner, where the cousins badgered them, asking when they were going to start dating. Skylar and Olivia denied it fully, saying they were too good of friends, however contradicted themselves when Skylar came home from college in May, where Skylar and Olivia had decided to pursue dating each other. The rest is history. However, it wasn't happily ever after just yet, because Olivia was set to move to Kentucky in the fall. Spending everyday that summer together changed quickly to texts and Facetime. Long distance doesn't scare Skylar and Olivia though. As Skylar will be in the Army, long distance is in the job description, so they got good practice in while dating and during their engagement. During this distanced time, Skylar and Olivia made it their goal to grow apart in order to grow together. Skylar started RCIA and converted to Catholicism. Olivia started an internship at a horse breeding farm. As they both lived lives apart, they both couldn't get one thing off their minds, discerning marriage.

Skylar relied on Olivia’s sister, Madelynn, to ensure the engagement would be a complete surprise. Given that the two met through horses, Skylar knew he had to do something around the animals, so he opted for a trail ride. Skylar decided to take Olivia on a trail ride, and asked Madelynn to pretend the trail ride was her idea. They played it off perfectly, making it seem like it was the day of that they finally agreed on where to go riding. Skylar, Olivia, Madelynn, and Madelynn’s boyfriend went on a double date to Staunton State Park. There, Madelynn was scouting for the perfect place to get down and take “couples pics.” They found a gorgeous spot, and after a few initial pictures, Skylar got down on one knee and asked Olivia to marry him, (and if he could bully her for the rest of their lives). She said sure! Olivia was ecstatic, and made sure to tell everyone else on the trail that she had just gotten engaged. Little did Olivia know, back at the Sinnett house, her whole family and a few friends were gathering for a surprise engagement party that Skylar and Madelynn had planned in advance. The couple was met with congratulations and hugs from their biggest supporters, and spent the rest of the evening celebrating their future together.
