FAQs

Here are some FAQ's we have been receiving. If you have a question, someone else is probably wondering it too, so please ask away! We will keep this updated as more questions roll in... We are available anytime at: Natalie: 250-432-5277 / natalie.skokan@gmail.com Oliver: 250-427-8977 / olivermcquaid@gmail.com Your comfort during your stay is extremely important to us. Please ensure you have all your questions answered BEFORE heading out to camp.
Question

When should I arrive?

Answer

Those of you coming Friday - please try to arrive between 3pm and 5pm. Those of you coming Saturday - please aim to arrive no later than noon to set up your camp. If you are only coming for the ceremony and dinner please plan to arrive no later than 2pm. Bring a lawn-chair. Keep in mind that we are in MST so those of you coming from the west will lose an hour.

Question

What kind of food should I bring?

Answer

We got you covered! There is one large communal kitchen so we have hired 3 chefs to cater the whole weekend - and we shall feast my friends! Friday BBQ, Saturday Italian, Sunday Mexican. The chefs have been briefed on all dietary restrictions and they are all professionals of the industry so we will be well taken care of. Food will always be available, even between meal times, so don't you worry. There is a fridge where you can put food if you need but we want to discourage people cooking for themselves in the communal kitchen. Also keep in mind that we are in the woods and we share the woods with all the little forest critters - so if you keep food in your cabin - consider yourself warned. ;)

Question

I am bringing my trailer, can I plug-in?

Answer

No. There are no plug-ins for trailers or campers. There is also nowhere to empty your tank. Please ensure you come with full power and empty tanks. For those of you who are first time trailer campers, your battery sinks quick when you use it so be cautious. Save it for night time lights and fans. Your tank will also fill up pretty quick so use your water sparingly. There is a lovely washhouse on the property that you can use for showering etc to save your tank space. Those of you using generators please be respectful of the sounds in the morning and evening, we have a lot of people so camp will be tight. Also, no generators can run during the ceremony on Saturday.

Question

What is provided in the cabins?

Answer

A hypoallergenic mattress and wood burning stove. You need to pack your own bedding and everything you will need to feel comfortable for nighttime. Bring a flashlight or lantern for nighttime. If it get's cold in the evening there is wood provided to light a fire and warm the cabin.

Question

Where can I buy a lawn chair and some sunscreen?

Answer

Definitely buy everything you need BEFORE heading into camp. Cranbrook has all the big stores: Superstore, Canadian Tire etc. They sell lawn chairs and sleeping bags for cheap cheap! If you are coming from the north we would suggest stocking up in Invermere or Golden. Fairmont Hot Springs and Canal Flats don't have much.

Question

Can I make phone calls from the property?

Answer

No. Unless it is an emergency. There is no service at camp. We'll be honest, this was a part of the charm for us. A totally off-grid experience. There is a satellite phone on the property for emergencies. You can drive down the road about a half hour to get back into service if you need to work or make phone calls.

Question

Can I use a blowdryer?

Answer

We have to be extremely cautious with use of power on the property. The entire property is powered by the lake. Cool! We will have a generator available from 1-3pm before the ceremony so everyone can get themselves looking super fine for the wedding. Other than that, please refrain from using powered items. We will have lots of generators on site if you need to charge your phone, dry your hair or shave your face.

Question

Is it a cash bar?

Answer

We realize that people don't carry cash into the woods so it will be an open bar all weekend. Yipppeee! We will have beers, ciders, nudes, and wine, available all weekend long. We will not have much of a "hard bar" - aside from a few cocktail hours.

Question

I am driving an electric vehicle, where can I plug in?

Answer

Camp is located about 45 minutes down a forest service road with no plug ins at camp. Please ensure you have full charge when you are coming up to camp. If you are coming from the north you can charge up in Fairmont Hot Springs. If you are coming from the South you can charge up in Cranbrook or Kimberley.

Question

What to do with Free Time?

Answer

Swim! The Lake is gorgeous! Hike! The mountains are calling! Canoe, fish, read books, challenge someone to scrabble or bocce ball!

Question

Can I bring my dog?

Answer

Nope, sorry - and we really are sorry as we really love dogs! Our pup Cohen can be a bit protective around other dogs so we don't want any "dog dynamics" at the wedding. If you are planning a larger adventure and want to bring your pup we have some excellent kennels around Kimberley. Be sure to book in advance and they book up very quickly! https://kootenaycanine.ca/ https://www.playpencranbrook.com

Question

Answers for parents!

Answer

We will have a few "Camp Leaders" helping out with kids activities. These are a few teenagers who have their babysitting course under their belt and have helped watched our kids in the past. We will have change tables and diaper genies set up in the washhouses. We have no highchairs on the property so if your little needs a seat please bring it with. We will always have kid friendly food available at each meals but if you require use of the kitchen then make yourself at home - inclusive if you need to store and sterilize bottles. The bunks fit a pack-and-play really well so bring that with you. Remember that it will get cold at night so pack warm sleep-sacks or blankets. There is no service on the property. If you require a baby monitor, ensure you have one that is battery powered and does not need a wifi connection. Same goes with sound machines - which we would recommend if you have light sleepers. Contact us with questions, we have traveled a lot with our littles!
