Oliver and Danielle found themselves both living the single life in New York City. One day they were waiting for the 6 train and ended up getting in the same car. They made eye contact (a big no, no in NY) and Oliver struck up a conversation all the way to Danielle's downtown stop. Before letting her leave he said something clever and was able to grab her number before the subway doors closed. Cute story right? Too bad we actually met via Instagram. This is a Millennial love story after all... The real story is Danielle found herself bored at work texting a friend and made a joke about being single forever. The friend then began to send Instagram profiles of single guys from the gym to Danielle's Instagram. Oliver's was one of them but his profile was private and in order to snoop on his photo's and see what he looked like she had to friend request him. After Oliver accepted her friend request he direct messaged her or DM'd her as the kids say, and struck up a conversation about what else but the gym. Both Oliver and Danielle are Olympic Weightlifters and generally love fitness, so the conversation was easy. Eventually Oliver asked Danielle out on a date. Danielle agreed and recommended they meet at Cascabel Taqueria, a Mexican joint in the Upper East Side just a few blocks from her apartment in case she needed to pull the, "Oh sorry, I really have to go let my dog out," excuse that she had used numerous times before. Luckily, she never had to use that line.
Oliver was very sneaky about his proposal as he knew Danielle tries to figure out everything and surprising her is difficult. Plus, at the time they lived in a studio apartment together with their dog, so there was like no personal space. Danielle was suspicious he would propose around Christmas time, as she had voiced how much she loves the Christmas Season. She even told these details to her cousin Ashley (Matron of Honor and pseudo sister) who then straight lied to her face and said she was concerned because Oliver had not reached out for her help in anyway. Danielle and Oliver drove to her parent's house in Connecticut for a long Christmas break. While there, Danielle texted Ashley that he wasn't going to propose. She could tell he wasn't acting strange and where would he have hid the ring, she watched him pack! Danielle was now completely off of Oliver's trail. Christmas Eve came and went and when she received no ring Christmas morning she figured it really wasn't happening. During this time Ashley texts Danielle that she wants to take pictures with her and Max (Danielle's Godson) since they didn't take any the night before. So Danielle gets dressed and they head off to her Aunt's house where Christmas Day takes place. Upon arriving, Ashley, her Husband Ryan, and their son Max corral Danielle and Oliver to the upstairs landing where the Christmas tree is. Danielle and Oliver take 'pictures' with Max...really Ryan is taking a video. Ashley asks Danielle if she would like to see how the pictures came out? Danielle gets up and walks towards Ashley's phone to look at the pictures but instead sees pictures of her Godson wearing a, "Will You Marry Me?" t-shirt. Danielle then turns around and sees Oliver down on one knee. He asks her to Marry Him and she completely looses it and then cannot stop crying for the next hour. She (obviously) said Yes! Capping off the most perfect proposal on Christmas Day :)
