Newberry Bros. Coffee & Prohibition Bourbon Bar Located just across the Ohio River, this mom-and-pop coffee shop has a not-so-well-kept secret: It's also the best Bourbon Bar in the State of Kentucky (...and the world.) With over 1,500 varieties of bourbon and counting, if you'd like to get a taste of the Bourbon Trail, this is the place to start. And if you can catch them during one of their now-rare weekend mornings, their goetta & cheese croissants cannot be beat! Maddie worked here after college, so she knows firsthand how truly kind and knowledgeable owners Kim and Peter are. A scenic walk by way of the riverfront or a very brief Uber will get you to Newport on the Levee, where you can grab dinner (Hofbrauhaus, anyone?) and take in one of the best views of Cincinnati. Their hours can be hard to pin down, so we'd recommend you check their Facebook page for the latest updates. Go ahead, treat yourself to that glass of Pappy Van Winkle!
Over-The-Rhine We couldn't decide on just ONE place to visit in Over-The-Rhine, so we're recommending the entire neighborhood. OTR has come a long way in our lifetime, and with new restaurants and shops opening up almost weekly, and the new Cincinnati Streetcar, it's never been easier to visit and appreciate. You could easily spend a day shopping, eating, and exploring, all within just a few blocks. Here are just some of our favorite stops in OTR: Findlay Market, Ohio's oldest operating public market, Bakersfield, a restaurant showcasing great margs, tacos, and unreal queso dip, Brown Bear Bakery, where you can grab some of the best baked goods in the city, Mica 12/v, a cute shop on Vine St. where you can find local art and hand-crafted gifts, Washington Park, where you can admire gorgeous Music Hall, Taft's Ale House, one of MANY awesome Cincy breweries, and Nation, a burger joint in nearby Pendleton.
Don't worry - you won't actually be surrounded by bees at this awesome brunch spot in Oakley. Tthe only stinger you'll get here is an alcoholic one. (Mimosas, anyone?) Treat yourself to an amazing selection of breakfast classics, elevated! And with options for every possible diet, you're sure to find something to love. Maddie always heads straight for the omelettes. Andrew thinks the classic blueberry pancakes are a total winner, but you can't go wrong with any of their daily specials. Can't quite get to Oakley? They've also got locations in Blue Ash and Downtown - so you can get your fix anywhere!
Gabby's Cafe If you're desperate to see where this whole thing started, come visit our hometown, Wyoming, Ohio! Gabby's Cafe is a mainstay in the heart of our "downtown", just across the street from the Meat Market and the Wyoming Bakery. You might even pass our parents' homes on the way! We can't count the number of dates we've had here, and, to this day, Gabby's manages to make it into the rotation. Our favorites include the Fried Mozzarella, the Gyro Burger, and the Lasagna! Grab a bite and take a walk to our High School; you can find some family names among the bricks of the graduation walk.
