Jack + I met online, the way it seems lots of young people are meeting these days. The first thing I noticed about his profile was that he was a musician, which immediately caught my attention. The second thing was that we had lots of mutual friends in common because we both attended music school! After a few days of communicating we made a plan to meet up with one another and we enjoyed a homemade meal on the back patio of my townhouse! I can't remember whether it was "love at first sight" but I know that he was immediately easy to talk to and made me feel as though I could truly be my most authentic self. You might see a few special touches at our wedding that pay homage to Bumble, the dating app that introduced me to my best friend. - Mer The most hip thing I have ever done was to download Bumble. This app brought me into modern dating times and it led me immediately to my future wife. I matched with exactly one person on this dating app, and it was Meredith. I was playing Trombone for Kings Dominion with many VCU alumni, all of whom had nothing but good things to say about this vocal major. This is a more telling testimonial than some of you might know! She made me pasta on our first date, and it was absolutely "love at first sight". She was kind, welcoming and she made me feel at home. If you know anything about Meredith, it's that she hates bugs, but I'm very appreciative of that silly little bee for leading me to the love of my life. -Jack
We had plans to go to Colorado in July this past year for our dear friends wedding, and with it came the perfect opportunity for us to spend some time with my family who live in Longmont! We had several days of fun in the Rocky Mountain state, which included breweries, shopping in Boulder and a trip up Trail Ridge Road to some of the highest elevations either of us have ever been to. Little did I know that Jack had planned to propose during this trip, and the day we went up Trail Ridge Road was the "perfect day" to make it happen. Except when we got to the top of the trail it was raining, drizzling, miserably cold and on our way back down the mountain it actually started sleeting (yes, in July!!!) Despite the awful weather Jack was going to make another attempt that evening at dinner to propose. Except, it was STILL raining. I think Jack had this perfect image in his head of how he wanted the proposal to go, but honestly I was so ready for it I would have taken it any way it came! When we got back to my Granddad's house, of course the rain stopped, I guess seize the day must have popped into his head because he got out of the car and basically proposed to me right there in his driveway. It was unexpected and just perfectly us, it will be a great story to tell our kids one day.
