The Fenwick Golf Course is the oldest public golf course in the State of Connecticut and, following the Greenwich Country Club, the second oldest course in the State. The first three holes (5, 6 and 7) were laid out in 1894. Holes 2, 3 and 4 were added in 1895 and the full nine hole layout was completed in 1896. The upper part of the sixth green is the oldest green in the State in its original location. Situated on a peninsula at the mouth of the Connecticut River, the Fenwick Golf Course is a links course which is open for play year-round dependent on the weather. There are spectacular views of the Connecticut River, Long Island Sound or the South Cove from every hole.

Bishop’s Orchards Winery was started in November 2005 after receiving state and federal approvals. The winery uses fruits grown on our farm to produce apple, peach, pear, strawberry, blueberry, and raspberry wines, as well as combination blends of those fruits. Over 15 fruit wines are now available, produced on site by Winemaker Keith Bishop. At the present time we have no grape production; however we partner with Hopkins Vineyard, Jones Family Farm Winery and others to provide a well rounded selection of fine Connecticut red and white wines.

Next, tour the Florence Griswold House. The Late Georgian mansion was transformed from a wealthy sea captain’s home into a boardinghouse for some of the most noted names in American Impressionism. Over 200 artists such as Childe Hassam, Willard Metcalf, and Matilda Browne found the lush countryside of Connecticut the perfect location for an American art colony.
