A celebration of love

Our growing love story spans continents but the seeds were first aptly planted in Victoria Island, Lagos, after an introduction by Obi's cousin. Our first in-person meeting was in December 2019, but there were initial reservations as Obi lived in New Jersey, while Ugochi then lived in Abuja. Bridging the gaps -- cultural, distance, time zones, pandemic(!) -- would be no simple feat. Still, we remained connected and began to build a foundation of friendship and admiration that focused on our character, our families, and our faiths in God. With those supportive pillars in place, we came to realize that there was no obstacle that we could not overcome. The seeds initially planted had blossomed into true love. Ugochi eventually moved to the U.K. and in May 2022, Obi came to visit. During what Ugochi thought was a pre-birthday photoshoot, Obi surprised her with a beautiful proposal in front of a picturesque scene in Oxford. Our international romance has continued and this past December, we were blessed to hold our Igbo traditional wedding in Imo State, Nigeria in the presence of hundreds of family and friends. We remain thankful to all who have supported this journey and eagerly look forward to the simple pleasures of starting our family life together.
