For California locals, the Amtrak runs from San Juan Capistrano to Santa Barbara for around $50 each way.

This is a great option very close to the water. We think the South Building is very nice and is right next to State Street where many great coffee shops and restaurants are. Vacation Rentals
There are plenty of lovely vacation rentals in the SB area on AirBnb and VRBO. We recommend staying close to State Street as that is where the shuttles will drop off after the wedding, but please stay wherever you would like.
