Christina and Noah met at the University of Rochester during the fall of 2013. Thanks to a hot tip from a random stranger, Noah landed in the freshman dorm room directly across from Christina’s. They bonded pulling all-nighters studying for chemistry exams; by October they were inseparable. Christina, the chemical engineer, got an A in chemistry. Noah got a C-, cut his losses, and switched to history. They passed the years sleeping in the library, clad in sweatpants, and subsisting on one pound Rochesterian calzones. In 2017, Noah and Christina graduated together. Noah left to begin his PhD at the University of California, Berkeley. Christina stayed on in Rochester to finish a master’s degree. This was the Dark Year of Separation. Fortunately, the clouds lifted when Christina landed her dream engineering job at Applied Materials in California. Noah and Christina moved into a shoebox apartment in a place that is actually called the City of Union City, where they live today. In 2021 Noah proposed to Christina at Brandywine Falls in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. She said yes. That same year Christina got a new job at Lam Research and a promotion; Noah was still working on that PhD. Now they pass the time tending houseplants, hiking up uncomfortably steep hills, visiting far too many zoos, and making each other laugh hysterically. Noah and Christina are still inseparable. But now it will be legal.
