Question

What to wear to an Indian wedding?

Answer

For Women: Indian weddings are colorful and vibrant celebrations, and the attire for women is a reflection of this festive spirit. Traditional attire for women often includes sarees, lehengas, or Anarkali suits. Sarees are elegant and timeless, consisting of a long piece of fabric draped around the body. Lehengas are elaborate, with a skirt, blouse, and a matching dupatta (scarf), perfect for the grandeur of the occasion. Anarkali suits are flowing, floor-length dresses with a fitted top and flared bottom, offering comfort and grace. Accessorizing is key. Women often adorn themselves with intricate jewelry, including necklaces, earrings, bangles, and maang tikka (headpiece). It's customary to choose vibrant colors and bold patterns, but it's also important to respect any dress code specified by the couple or family. For Men: Men's attire at an Indian wedding is typically a blend of tradition and style. The classic choice is the sherwani, a long coat-like garment worn over a kurta (long shirt) and churidar (tightly fitting trousers). Alternatively, men may opt for a stylish kurta-pajama ensemble or a well-tailored suit with Indian embellishments. The selection often depends on the formality of the event. Accessorizing is less elaborate for men but equally important. A coordinating stole, traditional footwear like mojris or juttis, and minimal jewelry, such as a watch or cufflinks, add the finishing touches. It's advisable to choose rich and vibrant colors, especially if there is no specific dress code mentioned.

Question

We often say that the best part of an Indian wedding is the food. There will be a wide variety of dishes with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options at each of the events. The food will be served buffet style, so that guests will have the option to choose what they’d like to eat. Please let us know if you have any food restrictions or allergies.
