Nicole just finished a contract and is settling back at home, what does she decide to do first? Start the swiping! #priorities Justin has tried his luck in swiping and has many stories to tell. Surely a number of you know some deets! #overit They matched on a Sunday night and he convinced her to meet for coffee the next day (you know, to make sure she's a real person). Coffee? Sure. Easy to get out of as quickly as needed. Two hours later at the Coffee Bean in Burbank, they were planning on an actual first date!
The Hollywood Bowl- November 4, 2017. Charlie and The Chocolate Factory was showing on stage- it was a disaster. We LOVED it. We did multiple scratch and sniff cards that all smelled the same. The performers on stage were reading their lyrics like they were singing at a karaoke bar: a recipe for a core memory that these two performers in the audience bonded over. We had our dinner with us, we ran into and met some of each others' friends and we walked back to the parking lot deciding to have dessert while we waited for traffic to die down. Suddenly, a woman approaches us. We noticed she had a bloody face and was asking for help. Justin immediately grabbed his hero pack from his car (bottled water and a roll of paper towels). We found out her boyfriend punched her and pushed her out of the car then drove away with her belongings, including her phone. He calls 9-1-1 and we wait for the paramedics. Justin did not want to leave that lady's side and I was impressed with his display of heroism. That was the first story I experienced of Justin being someone who will go out of his way to help someone in need. (Other stories include a foot chase at The Glendale Galleria to retrieve a stranger's phone from a pick-pocketer.) As I spend the years growing with him, I have seen and experienced how Justin shows up for the ones he loves and I can say I truly am lucky to be his Missus baby!
How did I trick her into loving me you ask? Good question. I took her on a trip to Iceland and while most of the trip was spent in the beautiful town of Reykjavik, we decided to spend 5 days driving around the whole island. I made sure to tire her out with a long drive the day before. We saw the puffin on the cliff side and ate at a nice little cafe called Franska Kaffihúsið, or the French Café- a tiny cafe overlooking the Raudasandur beach next to the famous church Saurbæjarkirkja (good luck with that). We camped out in our van after having a nice dip in a hot spring while getting to know some locals. We awoke the next morning bright and early to try to be the first ones to experience the Dynjandi waterfall. The biggest waterfall in the Westfjords and it truly deserves to be called the Jewel of the Westfjords. I chose this location to pop the question because this waterfall is stunning and well, it looks like layers of cake and we all know how we feel about cake. We were in luck and the place was quiet. Only two other people were there and they were already at the top of the falls. I got the ring that I had been hiding since day one of our trip. It was now day nine and the weight of the “ONE RING” was becoming tough to bare as she was becoming suspicious that I wouldn’t let her help me pack any of my bags along the trip. I told her that I was going to get the gimbal and tripod to set up a pretty video shot of the smaller stream running between our feet. I would push in past and over her shoulder to reveal the waterfall, and it would be really pretty to add to our travel reel. She took the bait but not without me having to tell her to stay turned around 2 more times… I was a little nervous she would see me on my knee or I would drop the ring in the water…but… it worked! I told her to turn around and she was stunned. The first words out of her mouth were “WTF... Who are you?” HA! I got her. The rest is as they say Her-story.
