Our nuptials will be held in private on July 10th. We are having 2 open house style receptions following our wedding day, one in Colorado and one in Oregon. Our Colorado reception will be held Sunday, July 11th at the Koch Family House. Our Oregon reception will be held Saturday, July 17th at the Flory Family House. This is a change from what was previously sent on our announcements. See "Schedule" for details on locations. Please reach out to either of us with any questions you may have! We want to celebrate with all of our loved ones, while also keeping everyone safe.
Gabe and I met in college at one of our best friends birthday dinners. Gabe played hard to get, but I knew he had a plan all along. And here we are 7 years later! After I graduated from college, I moved back home to Colorado while Gabe finished school in Oregon. This started our 4 year adventure of long distance. Gabe and I were able to see each other quite often during our first year apart, but as time went on and I moved to Omaha to start grad school, our visits became a rare occurrence. Our trips often involved Pacific football games, trying out new restaurants, exploring different hiking trails, and spending time with close friends and family. While long distance is super fun, we realized it wasn't for us anymore. Once I graduated PT school, we decided to start our lives together in Arizona. We both started new jobs, moved a few times, and adopted an adorable, crazy dog that we love. After a year or so of living in the desert, we came to a point in our lives where we were ready to commit to each other. Now living in Portland, OR, we could not be more excited to start this journey together!
We planned a trip to Zion National Park over Gabe's spring break. Gabe had Zion picked out as "the spot" for a couple of years, or so he says. The plan was to hike to Observation Point, where Gabe would sit me down, share what I meant to him, then ask the biggest question of his life. Of course things never go as planned. After a series of unfortunate events, we decided on a different trail, Canyon Overlook. It's a short and beautiful jaunt that overlooks the canyon, hence the name. We arrived at the end of the trail, and found a private spot to take in the views. Of course, Gabe and I asked for a picture together. We snapped a few pictures, then I looked down and pointed out Gabe's untied shoe, which he had purposely untied and retied multiple times. Next thing I knew, he was on a knee and asking me to marry him. I had no idea what was coming, and of course I said YES! We spent the rest of the weekend exploring Zion, newly engaged and happier than ever!
