Joe and Nicole met using the dating app Hinge in March 2018. After several fruitless years of using dating apps, they were both about to call it quits but decided to persevere. It finally paid off when they both met each other for dinner at Round Corner Cantina in the Lawrenceville area of Pittsburgh. There was an instant connection as they both made each other genuinely laugh throughout the evening, even after Nicole spilled her entire glass of water on Joe. As they got to know each other more and more, they knew that this was going to be something special. Nicole's friends thought it strange that Joe and her never had even a small argument several months into the relationship. However, this turned out to be an indication of just how in sync these two have been since they met. They are the perfect match for each other and continue to fall more in love every day. Joe had known he was going to propose to Nicole for a long time. They had moved in together after a year of dating, and everything had been going so well. Joe bought a ring and planned to take Nicole to the top of a mountain in Asheville, North Carolina to propose to her. However, the coronavirus pandemic hit a few weeks before the trip and they were unable to go. Having to improvise, on a pleasant March day, Joe decided to surprise Nicole with a picnic at West End Overlook Park, looking out over the city of Pittsburgh. This turned out to be a perfect moment that they will both never forget.
