Amanda had just relocated to start her postdoc at the University of Chicago. She moved into a Lincoln Park apartment just down stairs from Nick, who had lived in the neighborhood since his time at DePaul University.

We got engaged at the Garfield Park Conservatory. It wasn't a big surprise when I asked Amanda if she was free to visit a large green house multiple weekends in advance- she knew what was up!
