We have known each other since we were kids, with our dads becoming friends while Nick was in late cub scouts. He crossed over into the troop Savannah’s dad was scoutmaster for and over time got to know each other better. When Savannah changed schools in 8th grade we got even closer and became good friends through band and common interests. We started dating near the end of Freshman year of high school and have been deeply in love ever since.
We wanted to go on a bike ride around the neighborhood one day at the end of our Freshman year of high school. We biked around the Littleton neighborhood until we wound up in Stern Park where Savannah wanted to sit on a bench and take a short break to watch the ducks in the lake. Nick sat beside her and decided that was the perfect time to ask the question, rather than waiting until Valentine’s Day the next year. She excitedly said yes to dating him and they continued their bike ride shortly afterwards. On their way back to Savannah’s house they came to a downhill road that opened into a trail at the bottom, right behind the school and on the way home. Nick went first and went between the trail posts, then Savannah. Her leg hit one of the posts and she went over the front of the bike and wiped out. Unable to do much to tend to the new injuries, Nick helped Savannah home where her mom helped clean her up before a hair cut appointment she needed to go to and Nick explained to her dad what happened. Truly a memorable day and one they all look back on fondly.
When Nick graduated from college in 2023 we bought a house in the town he was going to be working in, Soda Springs, ID. Savannah took the opportunity of not working for Chick-fil-A anymore to chase her dream of working at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico that summer. When she came home August 30th, Nick was very excited to go out on a date together and dress nice for the evening. He set up everything around the house before they left for town then they went to Tokyo Belly Sushi for dinner. Afterwards they went to see a movie in the theater in town then made their way back home. When they pulled into the driveway, Nick handed Savannah an easter egg and said it had a hint to where the next one would be then hurried inside. Savannah went through the house, finding egg after egg on this scavenger hunt, until she ended up in the office. That’s when Nick got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
