Our Story

We met running high school cross country in 2013, but it wasn't until 2015 that we started dating. We found it easy to talk to each other and quickly became best friends. *Spot Liam and Noah*

That season that we became inseparable - we started talking constantly. Nick used to follow Lauren and Liam to Lauren's car after practice - ask Liam what he thought about that.

Nick begins to infiltrate the Rubidoux family, starting with the Great Mulch Movement of 2015. Dad bought 25 tons of mulch and Nick & Noah helped us move it from the driveway to cover the backyard.

Nick memorably asked Lauren "Be mine?" in the rain at the UTC parking lot, then gave Lauren an emoji pillow, before we joined Nick's family at Red Robin and we all went bowling.

Two weeks later, we went to our first high school event together.

Thanksgiving 2016 - this is our first photo of both families together. Nick's family stopped by Idyllwild on their way back from seeing Nana in LA.

Dad, Mom, Nevin, and Lauren go with Nick to orientation as he starts his college journey at Cal Maritime.

Nick moves back to San Diego in search of a better education and takes on a project for Cuyamaca college mechanical engineering dept's student Maker Space - aka, he gets to play with 3D printers.

Fun story: Nick attended Lauren's college orientation with her, and the speaker told us that we would break up in 3 weeks. This is us at Lauren's college graduation party!

Favorite date spot: the San Diego Zoo. Favorite date activity: eating poke while watching the not-poke-fishies swim around in the aquarium.

2 hours into the 20 hour drive from San Diego to Houston, when Lauren moved to go to school at Baylor. Mom and Dad were smart and took a plane.

Nick finishing his Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Dakota, where he insists he "doesn't freeze".

We got engaged under an oak tree on December 22, 2023, a mere 7 years after we started dating.
