We met at UCs welcome weekend in 2018! Through a mutual friend, we found each other at Mac’s Pizza Pub on McMillan. A fun night filled with college shenanigans and great friends. We hit it off and had our first date the very next weekend!
We went to the Greene’s Cheesecake Factory for dinner. While Katelyn finished her margarita pizza, Nick was too nervous to eat (sneak peak at the proposal story). After a quick stroll around the Greene, we ended the date at Frickers with some football. The date went by so fast and it seemed like we could have talked for hours!
From the 1st year we met and every year after, we have always gone on a holiday date to Summit Park in Blue Ash. The park is filled with ice skating, restaurants, swings and a friendly atmosphere. Nick thought this was the perfect way to propose. The night started off with a lovely dinner at The Senate. Gourmet hotdogs and duck fries were on the menu. Nick was so nervous about the events unfolding later, he hardly touched his plate, making Katelyn suspicious! Once dinner concluded, we grabbed our skates and hit the ice rink. We skated around to the joyful Christmas music, Nick’s favorite! We then ventured across the park and climbed many flights of stairs to the top of the observation tower. Nick was trying his best to keep Katelyn from spotting their families that had been hiding since dinner! (Poor timing communication on Nick’s part 😉) Once we made it down the tower, we enjoyed the swings near the center of the park. With kids screaming and running around them, Nick asked the love of his life to marry him. Of course, she said yes!! We were both joined by our families who were hiding in the bushes right behind us. Though it wasn’t completely perfect, it was perfect to us!
