Rick and Nicole met at work and didn't think much of it. All Nicole knew was that "there was one cute guy in the office" as she quoted to her family after her first day, and Rick started paying a little more attention to the Supplier Quality team. After a couple of years of working together, the two started hanging out more at larger group happy hours / nights out with the "younger crew". As they started spending more time together, the chemistry also started to increase. One night in March of 2020, Rick had a few home-town friends staying with him who worked him up to ask Nicole out on a date the following night -- at least, that's how she tells it.

Rick and Nicole's first date was at Red Cow in Uptown. COVID hit the week after their first date, so lucky for them, they got to spend a lot of time together over the following months while the world was shutdown.

The two had a trip planned to Hawaii in April of 2023. Leading up to the trip, all of Nicole's friends were regularly asking, "Is it going to happen while you're there?" Nicole kept telling herself and everyone asking 'no' because she didn't want to get her hopes up. On the third day in Maui, Rick and Nicole were planning on going to Haleakala National Park. While hiking into the volcano, Nicole sprained her ankle. Although she tried to keep going to get to the overlook (Rick thought he had another 20-30 minutes to get his life together), her pain decided differently. They stopped behind a boulder to breathe for a minute and Nicole looked up and Rick was on one knee! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you! See you in the 303!
