The decision to elope was a challenging one. As we sat and considered our finances, risks associated with COVID, and our personal preferences, we came to the decision to elope and celebrate with immediate family and our would-be-wedding-party guests. On Thursday July 7, 2022, we met with our Wild & Free Elopement photographer extraordinare, Joni (@elopewildandfree), and our talented, creative, extremely badass videographer and friend, Dana Willax (@willaxweddings) to make our elopement dreams a reality. At 1:00pm, we started our journey by doing a "first look" just the two of us at the campground. From there we ventured to Mammoth to hike to McLeod Lake. The hike is short, but in wedding attire, it proved to be a bit more challenging. We arrived at the lake at took a moment to marvel at its beauty and the grandness of the mountain that served as the crystal clear water's backdrop. We made our way to about half way around the lake to a rock and fallen tree at the water's edge that we had spotted the day prior. It was here that Joni guided us through a grounding exercise before we shared our vows. Joni and Dana took a step back and allowed us the privacy to share our love with each other one on one. Although many people wanted to be present for this piece, the ability to share our vows between just the two of us allowed us to feel more connected and made each word feel intimate and sacred. We played in the woods and followed each of Dana and Joni's wild ideas of us running, climbing, and jumping around... only almost dying maybe twice. We then made our descent and returned to the campground at June Lake where we were greeted with our closest friends and immediate family. We shared laughs, tears, food, and beverages. Every person present had a unique and strong connection to us. We stayed present in each moment and watched as our friends blended into one group rather than friends of the bride or groom. Our families followed suit. In such challenging days, there was something so special about watching people laugh, dance, and appreciate nature. It was everything that we wanted and could hope for. We hope some day to share our celebration with extended family and additional friends. Until then, we hope those of you not present can enjoy our website through reading our stories and viewing our photos. With Love, Amber & Tyler
Amber, From the moment I saw you, I knew my search for a life long partner was over. Your endless want for adventure, never-ending sense of love and drive to achieve anything that's in front of you were all tell signs that I had met the woman I would one day marry. You've shown me how to take in the small moments and to appreciate all that life has to offer. You are everything I could ever imagine and still can't believe I will soon have the honor of calling you my wife. I promise to never say no to any adventure big or small, to be by your side and support you through the good and bad days, to be the best pet dad to our entire farm, and of course to get you water even right after sitting down or getting into bed. This life is what you make it and I believe we can do absolutely anything we want to do and more. You are my best friend and I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with you. Thank you for showing me heaven on Earth. -Tyler
Tyler, It seems an impossible thing to allow a single moment to express a lifetime of promises. In you I found home, a safe space that feels so natural I often forget that there was ever a time before it existed. We often talk about if we had met sooner, only to agree we met at just the right moment to love one another the way we deserve. To you I vow to keep growing and healing to make my own heart feel as safe of a home as the one you have built for me within your own. I vow to encourage and inspire you to achieve all your dreams, even the ones that not yet exist. I vow to continue exploring and making getting lost part of the adventure. To remain curious about getting to know you at each stage of your life as you grow and change. Most importantly, I vow to choose you and to choose us every single day I wake. Choosing you is the easiest and most certain decision I have ever made because whether I'm scared, anxious, sad, or happy, your hand in mine is all I want, and for that, I vow to never let go. -Amber
Warped Tour June 23rd 2018, Amber and Ashley glammed up to get sweaty at Warped Tour, while Tyler shotgunned beers and prepared to rage at that same hot, unbearable music festival. Ashley, eager for Amber to find her soulmate, forced Amber to download Tinder. While swiping, Amber saw Tyler a bassist who liked to travel, play rugby, and adventure. She swiped right. So did he. They messaged and planned to grab a drink, but Tyler never responded. His phone had died (of course). Amber and Tyler added each other on Instagram to stay in touch as Amber immediately deleted Tinder... Over the course of the next year, Tyler asked Amber out every few weeks, only to be shut down repeatedly. Amber agreed to shows featuring their favorite bands and rugby tournaments only to bail at the last minute. One day while Amber and Tyler were texting, Amber sarcastically (with a hint of seriousness) said "If you have a truck and are off this weekend, you can come help me move." Tyler enthusiastically responded "I do and I am!" Tyler showed up to Amber's house with a giant smile ready to move her out of her apartment into her new home with friends John and Lizzie. Amber was covered in paint, no make up, hair a mess, blaring The Story So Far. It was that moment that they each knew they found their person. They shared beers, danced in the rain, ate pizza, laughed at the porn bar, and handed pizza left overs to the homeless and have been inseparable ever since. And in May 2019, Tyler finally bought Amber that drink at the final Warped Tour.
