Nellie and Joe knew of each other through a mutual friend because they both love Frozen. Nellie jokingly told her friend that if Joe was a true Frozen fan then he would know about Frozen becoming a Broadway play and its first ever premiere will be in Denver. She dared Joe that as a true fan he should take her to the premiere. Weeks later while Nellie was in Littleton she came across Joe on Tinder and super liked him. Joe made fun of Nellie for super liking him because he would have noticed her profile with the pictures of Nellie and their mutual friend without the extra notification. They texted each other for Two months. Well, Nellie flirted for Two month Joe was oblivious. Nellie finally confessed to Joe about her feelings thinking it wasn't going to change a thing. But, Joe decided to drive three hours to take Nellie out on their first date. Half a year later Joe kept true to the dare and took Nellie on their half year anniversary to Frozen the play.
Nellie's only birthday wish was for her Aunt Debra to see her get engaged before she passes away. So Joe planned a surprise birthday party for Nellie. It stared with a fun night of going to the bar with Nellie's best friend Hannah and then sleeping over. The next morning Joe gave Nellie her first gift, it was Men In Black 4 DVD. Nellie was not happy because Joe knew she hated that movie. She couldn't believe that was his birthday gift to her (Joe really does spoil her). After Hannah left and Nellie was done getting ready, Joe took Nellie to her favorite restaurant Little Holly's in Highlands Ranch. During Lunch Nellie got lots of Marco Polo's from her Mom and Aunt Debra. But, Nellie was a little sad that it seemed like none of her friends or family wanted to celebrate her birthday. She continued to enjoy the crazy surprises that Joe had planned for her. Nellie's fortune cookie said "A fun night with friends and family can brighten anyone's day." Nellie really wished that was true. Joe's fortune cookie was blank, and I mean there was nothing. Joe had to kill some time so he took Nellie to Target, claiming he wanted to look at Pokemon cards and to make up for the HORRIBLE gift, Joe bought Nellie a 4 foot Olaf plush. Then finally the fun part, Joe drove to his Aunts house and blind folded Nellie. When Joe took off the scarf Nellie saw her friends and family. She was confused and happy all in one, she always wanted a surprise party. When Joe brought out the cake and got on one knee, Nellie was really confused. (granted Nellie never read the “Will You Marry Me” on the cake) Joe almost dropped the cake trying to grab the ring, so his mind went blank. Hannah had to take the cake to help Joe. He just kneeled there with out saying a word. So Nellie finally said yes to the not said question. Nellie got to spend the rest of her birthday with friends and family playing games and having fun.
