It was New Year’s Eve at a masquerade ball. Nayna was in a ballgown and a mask…she looked across the room and… we’re just kidding people!! They met on a dating app, of course! Let’s set the stage for real this time: It was 2021. Nayna had JUST started her intern year of residency and was looking for an extra-curicular activity aside from crying in the supply closet at work each time her scary chief yelled at her. And Michael had heard from just about every physical therapy patient of his (young and old!) that he should make a Hinge profile and finally find a girlfriend… so they both put their trust in the algorithm. A couple of swipes and some quick messages later… and we arrive at their first date!

As expected, Nayna is rushing around, sprinting to the bar with wet hair because she got out late from work. Michael had already been at the bar 30 minutes early, reviewing the list of possible conversation topics on his phone he had meticulously prepared ahead of time. This WAS his first Hinge date after all! Michael sips his mojito (also his first one ever!) and realizes that he has exhausted his conversation list in the first 15 minutes… but also very quickly realizes (like most of you already know) that Nayna can definitely carry the team in the conversation department!

Michael and Nayna both knew soon after their first date that the other person had exactly what they had always hoped to find in a partner. Their love grew over the next several years, taking the form of Michael consistently refilling Nayna’s supply of Talenti gelato after her harder days at work, and Nayna humoring Michael’s airport dad-energy and vacation to-do lists. They met each other’s friends and families and began to plan a future together… which all became a reality when Michael surprised Nayna with a proposal at the beach in the summer of 2024. Nayna and Michael are so excited to be starting their life together and cannot wait to kick off their newest adventure with you all in November!
