Esther Kim

Maid of Honor

Esther first met Sydney at college orientation after a course preview when Sydney asked Esther if she wanted to make mochi with her. Esther emphatically exclaimed YES—little did Sydney know that Esther LOVES mochi—and the rest is history! Their 8-year friendship has grown stronger through college, post-grad life, and figuring out this “adulting” thing. Esther is grateful for Sydney’s listening ear, deadpan humor that often leaves Esther rolling on the floor in laughter, and her sincere thoughtfulness and care. Esther is beyond thrilled to serve as Sydney’s maid of honor and celebrate the marriage of two of her closest friends. May their wedding day and all their days thenceforth be filled with joy, adventure, #aesthetic, and daily reminders of how beloved and beautiful they both are.

Jeremy Ho

Best Man

I’m Jeremy! I’m originally from Northern Virginia just outside Washington D.C. I like playing video games, board games, guitar, and baking high calorie desserts and I’m currently in medical school in New York City! Nathan and I first met through the roommate matching survey before Freshman year at Tufts. I saw he had his Christian music preference all the way up to maximum and I was like “Aw yeah this guy is definitely going to be chill.” Not a few hours after we first met in our shared dorm room, we were blindsided by a burlesque show that we both awkwardly sat through—that was when I knew we were going to be friends. I am honored to be serving as his best man and so happy for both him and Sydney as they get to spend the rest of their lives together.

Christie Runes

Bridesmaid

As Christie's small group leader and someone who lived in the same dorm, Sydney met Christie in the fall of 2012 during college. Since then, they've become close friends where they've lived together (post college), attended the same small group & church, and much more. Christie's life would be much more dull and pun-less without her!

Tim Peng

Groomsman

I always like to remind Syd that I’ve known Nathan for a year longer than she has and I can’t believe Nate and I have been friends, roommates, brothers-from-other-mothers for almost 9 years now! Nathan and I met in the basement of Olin Hall on one of the first days of our freshman year in which I referred to him as “oh the other Asian guy!” Since then, we have got to know each other through our time in Tufts Christian Fellowship, half-watching Criminal Minds because we were too terrified, rowing for the Tufts Crew team, reveling in the unparalleled success of our New England Patriots, amongst many other things and I’m so glad to call Nathan one of my closest friends.

Joy Lee

Bridesmaid

Syd and I first met at athenahealth's new hire orientation in Maine. Though we didn't really talk during orientation, and I figured we probably wouldn't cross paths much - after all, it was a company of 5000+ employees - one morning soon after, we happened to catch the same bus to commute to work from Central Square (in Cambridge), and we realized that we had a lot in common! At the time, I was looking for roommates/somewhere to live, and Syd mentioned that she was also a Christian, AND her apartment had open rooms. We ended up rooming together, and the rest is history. Hundreds of dumplings, super corny puns, and nerdy conversations later, I'm still so thankful that somehow, out of the thousands of employees at athena, Syd and I met and became not only roommates, but really close friends.

Yomi Akintorin

Groomsman

Yomi is Nathan and Sydney's college friend, and was almost roommates with Nathan freshman year. Long story short, before freshman year, they got automatically matched up as roommates due to an automated roommate matcher. But one problem - Yomi was too slow about checking the portal and accepting Nathan as his roommate. By the time Yomi had gotten around to accepting Nathan as his roommate, Nathan had already agreed to room with somebody else! *Cough* Jeremy.  So their first time actually meeting was in a dining hall where Yomi randomly asked to sit with Nathan, neither of whom knew that they were almost roommates. When Yomi realized who Nathan was, he said, "Hey you rejected me!" and Nathan replied, "You were too slow!" Since then they've been the greatest of friends!

Erica Yuen

Bridesmaid

From the moment Nathan introduced Sydney to the Yuen family, I have felt that I have had the wonderful opportunity to know her and learn from the outstanding example that she is. From spending countless birthdays or celebrations, making apple pie at thanksgivings, traveling to Asia and more… our time together has evolved into not only creating memories, but traditions. As you might know or not, I dream in food, not colors, so Sydney and I really bond over our love for all things yummy. I’m so glad that I have someone who I can make fun of Nathan with, and travel the world together. Here’s to many more adventures!

Derek Char

Groomsman

Hi I’m Derek, Syd’s younger brother! I like to surf, play basketball, and do other fun stuff! I live in California with the parentals and work at Northrup Grumman as an Electrical Engineer. The first time I met Nathan was in California when my sister brought some of her friends over from college. We did typical Socal things like going to the beach, eating, and most definitely eating. If you have ever seen the cinematic masterpiece titled “Ping Pong Playa,” then you know what’s good. Anyway, in that movie the main character buys his friend Cinnabons and, as one does in this type of situation, says “Cinnabons on me!” So for our birthday’s Nathan and I send each other $5. Cinnabons on me!
