We met on a climbing and camping trip that our mutual friend Nick planned. Nathan was living in Boise at the time and the two of us met up again to climb which was when we first started to realize there might be something there. After a few more weekend adventures Nathan was able to move back to Portland and our relationship began to grow from there.

After a fun day skiing at Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood for Katie's birthday, we stayed the night at a mountain lodge a few miles away. Nathan had recruited a friend to decorate the room with pictures from our adventures over the past few years and to stash a guitar and candles. Katie was completely surprised when we opened the door, and Nathan (very nervously) sang a song for her and popped the question....and she said yes!
