Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Nathan Willingham and Claire Dutton
Liverpool is a vibrant city which has many tourist attractions and places to visit. Please see our list of recommendations below to help you plan your trip. We have also included some places that are slightly further afield for our guests who would also like to explore areas within a 2 and a half hour travel time from the city.

Liverpool Albert docks

England L3 4AF, United Kingdom

Liverpool Albert Docks are steeped in history and plays an integral part in Liverpool’s World Heritage waterfront. Here you will find a number of museums and places to see including: The Museum of Liverpool The Maritime Museum Tate Art Gallery The Beatles Story Museum International Slavery Museum The ferry across the River Mersey The Liver Building

The Beatles attractions

For those of our guests who are Beatles fans, Liverpool has a number of Beatles attractions for you to visit. These include: The Beatles Story Museum at Albert Dock The Liverpool Beatles Museum on Matthew Street The Cavern Club on Matthew Street The 2 hour Magical Mystery bus tour which visits many iconic Beatles spots including John Lennon’s childhood home, Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields

Shopping and places to eat

For those of our guests who would like to experience Liverpool’s many shops and places to eat we recommend Liverpool One open air Shopping Centre which includes the official Liverpool Football Club store. For our favourite quick service restaurant we recommend Nando’s which is also located in Liverpool One. You will also find a large cinema, indoor arcade, crazy golf and indoor putting green amongst other entertainment activities.

Sefton Park

Liverpool is hope to many beautiful outdoor spaces including the 235 acre, Grade 1 listed Sefton Park which is home to the Sefton Palm House. The park also includes a boating lake, statues of Eros and Peter Pan an ice cream shop and a cafe.

The City Of Manchester

United Kingdom

The City of Manchester (and Claire’s birth city) is a 40 minute drive away or an hour direct train ride from Liverpool Lime Street Station. Known throughout the world as the birthplace of the industrial revolution, Manchester has a proud history in science, politics, music, arts and sport. And today the city combines this heritage with a progressive vision to be a city that delivers surprise and delight in equal measures. Manchester city centre is jam-packed with unique and eclectic restaurants, bars, shops, museums, galleries, hotels and places to stay whilst the surrounding Greater Manchester boroughs offer a patch-work of visitor experiences including quaint market towns, traditional pubs and beautiful green spaces and waterways to be explored on foot or bike. The city region is easily navigated, with great transport links both in and around Greater Manchester.

The City of Chester

United Kingdom

We highly recommend visiting the City of Chester which is accessible via direct bus or train from Liverpool City Centre. The X1 bus runs every 20 minutes from Liverpool City Centre and takes an hour and a half. The trains run from Liverpool to Chester at least twice and hour and takes 45 minutes. Chester has the most complete city walls, the oldest racecourse and the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, plus a 1000 year old Cathedral with Europe's finest example of medieval carvings - and of course the one and only 700 year old Rows galleries and shops.

Conwy, North Wales

United Kingdom

Conwy in North Wales is a place loved by Claire, where she visited many times with her family whilst growing up. Conwy is an hour and a half drive from the centre of Liverpool and can also be accessed by train which takes around 2 hours. Conwy is steeped in Welsh History with a Castle and well-preserved ancient walls, the most intact in Europe, which enclose a town of narrow cobbled streets. The town also has many small museums, a fishing marina and it is also home to the smallest house in Great Britain. We recommend getting fish and chips whilst watching the fishing boats in the marina.

The Lake District

Visiting the Lake District is one of the most popular holiday choices for people around the UK and further afield. From Liverpool, the Lake District is a 2 hour drive. We would not recommend trying to visit via public transport. The Lake District National Park has a wide range of activities and attractions and natural beauty. From walking and cycling, to boating or paddleboarding, there’s something for everyone in the Lake District. With 12 of the largest lakes in England and 3,105km of rights of way, this truly is one of Britain's best breathing spaces.

London

United Kingdom

London is the capital city of the UK and has lots of attractions to see and do including Buckingham Palace, The London Eye, The Tower of London, London Dungeons and The River Thames. From Liverpool City Centre, London is accessible by direct train which takes 2 and a half hours or by car which takes around 4 hours. When in London, the easiest way to get around is via the tube - you can use transport for London’s Journey Planner page to help you plan your trips across the capitol: https://tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey/
