A month before graduating from James Madison University, Haley and Nate thought all hope was lost in finding their special someone in college. At that point Haley had her last sorority formal and decided that her and her girlfriends would go with blind dates. Haley's good friend Sammy Davidson sent them a selection of Rugby guys to choose from who were friends with her date, Mike Cascio. Haley immediately called "dibs on the blonde". The night of the formal the two danced the night away to a 90's cover band and realized they might have found that someone special after all...

Haley and Nate had been together for three years, but majority of that time was spent several states apart. In July of 2018, they finally were not only living in the same state, but under the same roof right outside of DC. On the one year anniversary of signing their first lease together, Nate asked Haley to go on a walk down the Mt. Vernon trail. Nate had made this a common Friday night activity for months leading up to the big day in order to lower Haley's suspicions and scout out the perfect spot. To many people's surprise, Haley agreed to go on this walk in 105 degree weather. As they strolled down the trail reflecting on their first year as roommates, Nate pulled Haley off to the side to take in the moment and dropped to one knee. As the shock was setting in, Haley and Nate's families made a surprise appearance on the trail. The next 48 hours were filled with excitement, laughter, family and friends.
