We met at a Halloween party in 2015 at the Old Whiteaker Firehouse! Nate was dressed as Clint Eastwood’s Blondie and Claire was dressed as a Claire Bear (she loves a good Halloween pun). We found each other on the dance floor, thanks to our friend’s encouragement. It seems like a movie script to meet at a party, but we had so much fun together that night so we made plans to make dinner together the following week and the rest is history!

We got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2023 (we seem to have a thing for holidays). We were traveling in Baja, Mexico and staying in the tiny snorkeling town, Cabo Pulmo where all roads are sand, there is no internet, no grocery store or ATM, but a lot of amazing nature and people! It was too windy to snorkel so we found a hike to do instead. We were pretty disappointed not to be snorkeling, but were happy just to be together in a beautiful place. Nate had brought the ring with him on the trip and knew he wanted to propose at some point, it just so happened that it was Valentine’s Day! We reached a beautiful overlook where we could see the bright turquoise ocean with rolling hills of Cardon cactus and gorgeous mountains into the horizon. Nate’s proposal was perfect and we were on cloud nine all the way back to town. We ended an unforgettable day with a romantic sunset dinner overlooking the beach!
