We are excited to celebrate with you!

In November of 2015, Nichelle had only recently moved to Kansas City after college and I had just set down roots in Brookside. On a Sunday night, I had been playing piano at church and saw Nichelle for the first time sitting in the balcony. Was it love at first sight? Possibly, but I knew I needed to find out! Luckily she was sitting with her childhood friend, Grace, who happened to be my coworker. It was a convenient situation to introduce myself after the service (thanks Grace!). I found out she graduated from Truman State, a school that apparently calls themselves the Harvard of the Midwest. I let her know that William Jewell was actually the more legitimate Harvard of the Midwest because we were actually a private school, you know, like Harvard. She responded by brushing something off my shoulder. I asked, “what was that?” She said, “Oh it just looked like you had a giant chip on your shoulder.” After that sassy sarcastic remark, I knew this could be something after all. The following week I rehearsed how I would ask Nichelle to coffee when I saw her again. As it goes, Nichelle actually beat me to the punch and Facebook stalked me to invite me to the Jewell vs. Truman State basketball game! Of course I already had plans, but we ended up watching the Chiefs game together the next day and love blossomed shortly after. I love that we met at church, mostly because my parents met at a bar, and I like to hold that over their heads. We are both so grafeful for God’s providence in our lives and the people He’s allowed us to walk with. Thanks for being a part of our big day! #Nlove
