Valley of Fire State Park
If you're into the outdoors and want a break from the bright lights, about an hour and twenty minutes from Las Vegas is the Valley of Fire State Park! Valley of Fire is a public recreation and nature preservation area covering nearly 46,000 acres located 16 miles south of Overton, Nevada. The state park derives its name from red sandstone formations, the Aztec Sandstone, which formed from shifting sand dunes 150 million years ago The park is open from sunrise to sunset and has a $10 entrance fee, or $15 for non-Nevada residents and has over 30+ hiking trails.
Grand Canyon
Another great option is to head to the Grand Canyon if you wanted to get out of the Vegas spotlight. The Grand Canyon is a mile-deep gorge in northern Arizona that's over 270 miles long and up to 18 miles wide. It's considered one of the world's largest canyons and finest examples of arid-land erosion. The canyon is known for its rock formations and coloration, and contains some of the oldest exposed rock on Earth.
