03/23/24 - Nancy Proposes to Kendall | Griggs Park, Dallas Nancy had a friend invite them to a "Girl's Picnic" - really just a ruse to get Kendall to Griggs Park at a specific time. That morning, Kendall had frisbee practice with many of their friends who were also "invited" to this picnic. Nancy filled everyone in, so any question Kendall brought up about the evening get-together could be responded to without raising any flags - they truly have the best friends, because everyone SOLD it! That evening, they drove almost an hour to the park (nothing quite like never ending traffic to enhance the pre-proposal nerves!). Kendall was still under the impression that their friends were meeting them there, so when a car in the parking lot was coincidentally identical to one of their friends cars, the surprise was fully in effect! Nancy led Kendall to a picnic blanket at the top of a hill overlooking the Dallas skyline. They set their things down and Kendall started to take her shoes off before stepping on the picnic blanket. Nancy shut that down real quick! She was determined for Kendall not to be in socks in the proposal pic, ha! This got Kendall's gears turning - she looked around and looked back at Nancy, "Is anyone else coming?" At this point, Nancy had reached peak nerves, excitement, and knew it was the moment. She got down on one knee while a violinist she'd booked played Moon River in the background, and popped the question. Kendall enthusiastically said yes! They spent the next hour celebrating over champagne, recapping the proposal, and talking about the last couple of surprises Nancy had planned. They headed to a swanky jazz bar with friends to celebrate, stayed the night at The Adolphus hotel, and had reservations for High Tea (Kendall's favorite!) the next morning. It was a weekend of bliss, and a memory they'll cherish forever. 04/11/24 - Kendall Proposes to Nancy | Central Park, New York City Kendall planted the idea in Nancy's head for months that she may have to start traveling for work on occasion. So, when Kendall sprung a New York "work" trip on Nancy for the following weekend and asked if she'd want to go with, it was a no brainer that she'd be in. Little did Nancy know, Kendall had it all planned and the trip fully booked weeks in advance! The day of the proposal, Kendall planned a tour of the cherry blossoms in Central Park (they were in full bloom, so it was stunning!), a museum stroll, and a stop for some good ol' fashioned NY style pizza. Then, they headed back to Central Park after lunch to check out a few other spots in the park they didn't get to earlier in the day - Kendall's plan was to pop the question at one of these spots! Small wrench in the plan - it began pouring rain when they arrived back at the park. Kendall quickly stalled by leading Nancy under a covered structure, while they waited for the rain to pass. Coincidentally, a live saxophonist happened to be playing which added such a romantic, sweet tone to the day! The rain thankfully stopped and Kendall told Nancy they were gonna head back to the subway. Good thing Nancy has a terrible sense of direction because she had no clue when Kendall was actually leading them further into the park instead of out of it (lol). They arrived at the spot Kendall would ask the big question - truly picture perfect! So much so, that Kendall set up her phone to take a "self timer pic" (Nancy later learned this was set to video the moment), turned to face Nancy and grabbed both her hands. In this moment, Nancy knew what was happening and immediately let out a "No way. No way!!" Kendall assured Nancy it was, in fact, happening, and knelt down with the ring. Nancy excitedly said yes and they both relished in that moment while the secret photographer Kendall booked snapped away. The rest of the night included a Broadway show, post-show dinner, and a few espresso martinis - absolutely magical and a literal dream day for Nancy!
