We are so excited to bring together our family and friends to celebrate our marriage at the Branford House in Groton, CT. The Branford House sits on the UCONN Avery Point college campus and offers a beautiful view of Long Island Sound. The mansion was built for Morton Freeman Plant, a local financier and philanthropist, as his summer home in 1902. After Plant died, the mansion was passed down to his family members until it was sold at auction in 1939. The state of Connecticut then acquired it and passed it to the U.S. Coast Guard, who built the Avery Point Light house on the waters edge. In 1967 the building was passed along again to the state and eventually renovated in 2001 by UCONN. The second floor (some accessible to guests) holds the Alexey von Schlippe Gallery of Art and the first floor is rented out for functions. The mansions unique history, nautical ties, and historic character left us no doubt it will be the perfect venue to host a cozy winter wedding. We cannot wait to share it with you!
