Stanley is 130 miles from the Boise Airport and will take approximately 2 hour and 40 minutes. There are two routes you can take with one being more accessible from the airport and the other being the prettier drive (in our opinion). The prettier route takes Route 55 through Horseshoe Bend and Banks Lowman Road through Garden Valley to Lowman. The other route take Highway 21 all the way through Idaho City and Lowman. They are both equal distance. We will give more information about directions closer to the wedding! *You will not have cell phone service on your drive to Stanley. The city of Stanley does have cell reception.
Stanley is a mountain town that sits at 6,200 feet, which means that temperatures can range drastically and can be unpredictable. Pack appropriately for chilly mornings and evenings. Make sure to check the weather forecast before packing. Make sure you bring layers and a good jacket. It could be a hot 75 degrees and sunny during the day and 35 degrees after the sun goes down. Be sure to pack some hiking boots/tennis shoes and a swimsuit if you are planning to enjoy any of the outdoor activities Stanley has to offer. This may include fly fishing the nearby rivers, kayaking or pontooning on Redfish Lake, hiking in the mountains on trails in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area and soaking in several natural hot springs. Pack for it all!
The Stanley airport has all the car rental agencies available onsite. We are also looking into renting a 15 passenger van depending on everyone's flight itineraries. Once guests start booking flights we will know more about renting the van. More to come!
