Where we had our first date and where William later proposed. Try the el Felix enchilada or the hush puppies, and marinated crab claws if they're on the menu. Great atmosphere with a beautiful bar and separate oyster bar.
Art museum with beautiful lawn and free admission. Can easily be done in an hour or two. "The Menil houses nearly 19,000 paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, photographs, and rare books. Masterpieces from antiquity, the Byzantine and medieval worlds, Africa, Oceania, the American Pacific Northwest, and the 20th century are particularly well represented. Among the highlights of the museum are its Surrealist holdings, widely regarded as one of the world’s foremost collections of its kind. The museum displays selections from its permanent collection and regularly offers special exhibitions and programs to the public."
Eclectic casual place for Vietnamese food. If you like a vermicelli bowl, you can't go wrong with the Bun Thit Nuong. Street parking or a small lot available, but can be tricky, so an Uber or Alto may be preferable.
Outdoor mixed use development with healthy-ish casual chain options like Flower Child, Sweetgreen, and Mendocino Farms, and local Mexican eatery Urbe. Also includes The Rustic which offers a bar, food and live music. Giant Leap has wonderful coffee, and you can stop for a cupcake at Crave or ice cream at Van Leeuwen. Some shopping too!
