Rebecca and Tyler were encouraged to meet by a mutual friend (Grace). After a few attempts to connect, Rebecca finally agree to meet Tyler at BC Place, for a magical evening of football. Within the first few moments of meeting, Rebecca's brother decided to make a surprise guest appearance. He coincidentally was attending the same game for a work function, although it surely appeared to be a staged big brother screening. After exchanging a few awkward pleasantries, they attempted to resurrect their evening with fewer family run-ins. After the game, Tyler walked Rebecca to her bus stop, and sparks were flying! Football & public transit, the makings of true romance.
After dating for about 6 months an opportunity presented itself to travel and visit that very friend who set us up. However, she was studying in Dubai. So, we planned a trip and traveled around the globe in 11 days. This would be our first trip together, so why not test ourselves and our new relationship by traveling around the world? The first stop was London, followed by Petra in Jordan, then Dubai, before finishing our whirlwind off in Hong Kong and Japan. It was a real adventure, but we survived and ultimately and returned home - surprisingly - more in love.
After dating for more than a year, Tyler expressed he wanted more than a "part-time" girlfriend. He was ready to move the relationship from 'weekends' to 'everyday'. Then, after a little encouragement and serious conversations, plans were set in place for 'The Move'. As of December 1, 2018, our relationship was established in a new category, we were co-habitating.
We had already planned a vacation to Belize, leaving Vancouver early on January 1st, 2019. This meant NYE was intentionally low key, but we still had to celebrate, just little bit. So Tyler made a reservation at the infamous Tea House as way to celebrate the year while keeping in mind an early night. After a wonderful dinner reminiscing the year together, Rebecca made it mandatory that we take the Christmas Train ride in Stanley Park. This was perfect timing! Originally Tyler was going to propose at dinner, or maybe while out for after; and if the timing wasn't quite right, somewhere in Belize. However, the train became the perfect setting and beat out all of those prior proposal ideas (luckily he brought the ring!). We caught the last train of the night, at 10 PM, took a seat in the back of a mostly empty ride, and were whisked away through sparkling lights and holiday music. Once we left the station, and cozied up to one another, Tyler subtly brought the ring out of his pocket and showed it to Rebecca. But..... ... before Tyler asked, Rebecca yells out: "Are you kidding me?!", to which Tyler had to respond: "no, so will you marry me?". Thankfully Rebecca response's was: "Obviously".
