Question

Which airport should I fly into?

Answer

Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the closest airport. It is a large airport, large enough to have a tram! So, when departing give yourself lots of time to get through security. We use TSA precheck and are usually through security and at our gate in 30 minutes, but there are the horror stories of 2.5-3 hour waits, so trust your gut and good luck! Busiest flights out are first thing in the morning, so for sure expect crowds then.

Question

What should we bring with us?

Answer

Expect to walk 8+ miles per day! High temperatures in 2022 and 2023 at this time were mid seventies to mid eighties with low temperatures in the seventies high sixties at night. Comfy Clothes! Groom loves zipper pockets, Bride loves athletic wear. Good walking shoes and socks. Blister bandaids and aloe, jusssttt in case! Magic Bands. You use your band to tap into the park, tap into rides, tap into your hotel room, and even to pay if you're staying on property. You can also get a card (think a hotel key card) that you can use the same, or you can use your phone. Power Bank for your phone, you will be on it a lot! Ears!!

Question

How does Disney work?!

Answer

A lot of preparation is done before you arrive! And it is all done inside of the My Disney Experience App. We recommend playing with this some before you arrive it can help you learn the parks, and once on property help you with ride wait times, dining reservations, bathroom locations, photographers, parade times, show times, etc. Once you make an account, please get with Bethani/Lee to add you to their friends. Once we get to Disney we will be purchasing the Memory Maker that lets us download all of the pictures taken on rides or at random through the park. Dining reservations should be made 60 days in advance. Especially for popular locations (Ohana, Be Our Guest, Oga's Cantina) and any locations with characters (Chef Mickey's, Garden Grill, Akershus, Cinderella's Royal Table, Crystal Palace, etc.) If you're staying on property you can book dining for your entire stay at 6 am 60 days prior to your arrival. If you're staying off property, you can book each day's reservations at 6am 60 days prior to that specific date. You can still eat if you don't book ahead, but you need to do walk ups or plan for quick service dining (think high quality fast food). Park reservations are no longer needed to get into the parks if you purchase 2+ days worth of tickets. If you purchase just one day, this is called a date based ticket, you will need to select the specific day you want to go into a specific park and then reserve your park for that day. No reservation means no getting into the park even though you bought a ticket.

Question

What the heck is Lightning Lane Multipass?

Answer

Lightning Lane Multi Pass is a feature of the My Disney Experience, that you can purchase for each day of your trip, 7 days before your trip, if you are staying on property (any Disney resort including the Swan and Dolphin). The price is different every day and for each park. A safe budget guess would be $35/per person per day. Lightning Lane Multi Pass allows you to skip the line on rides as you choose. You will select 3 rides on which you can skip the lines. Once you use one, you can select another all day. So, for instance using EPCOT. we would select Remy’s, Spaceship Earth, and Living with the Land. We would try to get all ride times early ish in our day. They appear in 1 hour time slots. So let’s say we get them for 9-10, 955-1055, and 1035-1135. This means we can arrive at the park right at 9, ride Remy’s and then immediately book a new ride for Frozen, Soarin’, **or** if we were park hopping we could start looking at rides in another park. We would repeat this same process at 9:55 and 10:35. (I have a screen record of us doing this during our November trip if you need anything at all please let us know!) You do not need to do this to have fun at Disney. You can just go to the parks and wait in line for rides. It is likely going to be a little busy though, so keep in mind ride times are lowest during the morning, popular meal times, as well as during parades, and fireworks at the end of the day.

Question

What the heck is Lightning Lane Single Pass?

Answer

Lightning Lane Single Pass is another feature of My Disney Experience, you can purchase the ability to skip the lines on select rides. At present time (November 2024), there are 1-2 rides per park where this is possible. Magic Kingdom: Seven Dwarves Mine Train and Tron. Epcot: Guardians of the Galaxy. Animal Kingdom: Avatar Flight of Passage. Hollywood Studios: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. You do not need Lightning Lane Multipass to purchase one of these Lightning Lanes, but you can only book 2 specific rides per day. Budget wise, probably $25/per person per ride. Guests on property can make their selections 7 days prior to their arrival.
