We love children and welcome them to join us for the weekend in Charleston! However, unfortunately, due to capacity restraints and the nature of the venue, we are not inviting them to attend ceremony or reception. If families are unable to find childcare in advance, we are looking into alternatives such as childcare at the Francis Marion Hotel. Please contact Shannon if you will need help with childcare or have any additional questions.
The ceremony will be held at the Island House, which is an entirely outdoor venue. There is no access to the house itself. The ceremony will be held on the lawn and then the reception will be under a large tent besides the water. For early may, average daytime high temperatures are 77 degrees. The tent also has ceiling fans and there should be a breeze coming from the inlet so the temperature should stay mild. Bug spray will also be provided.
We would love for you to have a whole weekend in Charleston! The bride and groom and immediate family are staying from Friday until Monday morning. We understand that time is precious and completely understand if you only want to come to the wedding itself on Sunday evening. Other events organized for the entire wedding party include a possible Welcome Party on Saturday night after the Rehearsal dinner. Location and confirmation for this event pending.
Although the venue is located in John's Island, a majority of the party will be staying in or closer to downtown Charleston, South Carolina (less than 20 minutes away from the Venue) We've included 4 hotels with room blocks. If you need more space, Charleston also has many wonderful airbnb options! Please refer to the Lodging and Travel page for hotel reservation details and airport information.
We will not be offering a shuttle service. However, there is ample parking at the Island House and Uber and Lyft are very active in the area.
We specifically chose May in Charleston so it would be warm enough for our guests to enjoy all this coastal town has to offer! For the best beaches, Kiawah Island, Folly Beach, Sullivan's Island, Isle of Palms and Sea Islands are all wonderful places explore. For wonderful restaurants and bars, check out the many great spots on Charleston's historic King St.
