We truly believe that fate was at work when we met! Catherine and her mom, Susie, were on a girls' trip in Austin, Texas the same weekend Trey was celebrating his brother, Jace's, bachelor party in Austin. Susie and Catherine were sitting by the pool at their hotel on 6th street, which happened to be across the street and looking at Parlor and Yard, where the bachelor party was celebrating. Susie and Catherine were trying to get a hockey game on the big outdoor TV Parlor and Yard has, but the bar was not picking up the phone. Catherine wrote on her phone "put on hockey!" and held it up, hoping someone across the street would see...and Austin, Trey's brother in law, saw. Catherine yelled across her mom's phone number to ask Austin to put on the hockey game. He told her that they would get the game on if Susie and Catherine would come over for a drink because she would "want to talk to Trey, who thought she was cute." The bachelor party got the hockey game on! Catherine did not want to go across the street for a drink, but Susie convinced her that one drink on the girls' trip would be fun. So the two went over to Parlor and Yard, and Catherine and Trey clicked instantly. Dirty shirley's all night long! Catherine put her dream ring information in Trey's phone because "he was going to need it," and the two agreed the first night that "Catherine Mortimer had a good ring to it." He even got down on one knee the night they met after that! Trey asked to see Catherine again the next night, and they decided long distance was more than worth it. Now, the ring details came in handy, as we are planning our wedding!

Trey’s family came to Little Rock so the two families could meet! During the weekend, Catherine, Jade (Trey’s sister), and Cass (Trey’s sister-in-law) all went to brunch together to celebrate Cass since Catherine was unable to attend her baby shower the week before. While the girls were at brunch, Trey, his family, Catherine’s family, and Bekah (Catherine’s best friend who was surprising Catherine at the engagement) were setting up. The air bnb was transformed with rose petals, candles, and pictures of Trey and Catherine! Catherine came back from brunch and followed the petals to Trey! He popped the question, and she said yes!
